It was built out of plywood.
The shape was
an "hand made" using classicals tools (file, sand paper). I used templates
to obtain the better profile fidelity but you can easily imagine that the
result is not perfect. A CNC milling machine could give a better result.
The unit is not
perfect but it works ...
The foil was then
laminated with fiberglass and polyester resin and reinforced at the strut
junction.
| The main foil box |
The main foil
position on the longitudinal axis is very important for the board pitch
stability when running on its foils.
Not knowing the
center of gravity of the sailboard "on fly", I had to make a long adjustable
foil box.
| Canard planing surface |
It was made out
of molded fiberglass and polyester resin.
It is connected
in a standard box fitted in the board nose. Dimensions and angle of attack
of this planing surface allow the bow to take off quickly.
